about

First tune, which originates from Benny Golson's tune „Whisper Not“, lies on a field of diverse territories in human's appearance, territories that make us imperfect, that make us alive. It comprises video projection of wars, discrimination on national, sexual and racial basis, poverty, sadness, destruction, prejudices, loneliness, negligence and fear. The idea of making it came as the question that didn't want to leave my mind, it was stuck there so strongly that after a while I knew I have to follow my instinct. I had to find the answer to the question that was choking my lungs, squeezing my breath till pain. I knew that „there has to be something more“, because this, we are surrounded with, the world we live in, can not be all. I needed some „filter“ throught which I could try to release this sadness I was carrying in me, I needed to make it alive. Pretending we don't see, doesn't make it dissapear. It just makes „us“ empty. So here we are, with the tune, birth was given to, with thoughts put on paper, with scenes that got their places into reality. Now we are forced to see, now we are forced to feel, but still now, the world suffers the same… I suffer the same, but deep inside I feel some relief, that just for a second, the world became a better place, while we were, one little moment – suffering together.

The whole concept of the piece lies on ostinato patterns repeated in different voices and places in various parts during the whole tune. Mellow sound of the whole arrangement, guided by percussion, doesn't represent calmness and peace. It presents resignation, indication that faith is lost and the worst is yet to come, especially accented in saxophone solo with its screaming lines. With piano solo traces of nostalgia are getting shapes and indications of brightness emerge from allover frustration, which leads to mysterious ending vanishing in question – „why?“. Today, years and years later, still with the pictures of distruction in front of my eyes, taste of a smoke in my mouth, and fear for a life in my heart, the tune arrived, tune, that comprised of eight congenial areas of reality, called itself „Scream“, scream caused by structure of living being's torture, doubts, depression…
